The other night I was out to dinner in a crowded, lively and fabulous restaurant with a dear friend.
It was one of those places where the tables are only about 18 inches apart and on one side guests are sitting on a shared long padded bench and on the other side, there are individual chairs.
Being so close to the table next to us, and being incredibly curious/nosey, I was slightly obsessed with the table to my left.
It seemed that they were on a first date and trying to figure out if this was going to go anywhere.
From outward appearances they were not a good match…
He was a buttoned up, perfectly pressed beige khakis 7-days-a-week kind of guy.
And she was an adventurous leather combat boots, natural-is-not-my-thing (amen to that) kind of gal.
They started the date sitting back a bit and being timid and by the time we left, they were four cocktails in, leaning in so close they were almost touching.
Was it the cocktails or the actual attraction?
Well I followed up with them a week later and shared that they are in fact fully smitten. They already met each other's parents and explored properties on the East Shore for their future white picket fence home.
Yeah no, I am not psycho so I did not actually talk to them to ask for their numbers. I just side-eyed them the whole time and eavesdropped like a normal person.
In any case, there was definitely a magnetic attraction between those two and it was obviously going somewhere.
Starting with a meeting, a conversation and eventually the white picket fence situation.
