After church last Sunday my family and I had a few quick errands to run before heading to a family party at my parent’s house.
I asked the kids where they wanted to stop for dinner on the side of town we were in and the kids chose Wild Wings Cafe.
I had not been there before, but my kids had with the Tall One, so I agreed easily.
Turns out, this restaurant was not created for me. At all.
There were 4I,210 TVs blasting different sports games inside, the volume was incredibly loud and when I tried to order a salad, I was told they were “out of lettuce mix.”
So no, this place isn’t my jam.
But it is created for others…those who love beer, wings, and sports.
And they are absolutely dialed in on their target market. Not trying to be all things to all people.
I find that is something a lot of business owners struggle with…
They are so worried about missing out on a prospect, that they refuse to narrow in on their messaging.
They go for all of the people, and in the process can catch none of them.
But the more you narrow in, the more your ideal, perfect prospect can hear and see you in the crowded marketplace and identifies you as the solution they were looking for.
Be brave enough to test going as narrow as possible. And see what happens with your results
Wing sauce optional.
