Have more than 10 people on your email list? Do this.

Working with Shark Tank’s Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O’Leary has also given me the gift of working with many of the entrepreneurs he has invested in.  I have had the pleasure of working with Jenni-Lyn of Snarky Tea who joined our Powerhouse Mastermind Group, and Wine & Design, a paint and sip franchisor with over 80 franchises around the country.

Wine & Design had me speak at their annual convention of franchise owners last week.  During our round table discussion following my keynote address, we talked about a quick-win strategy they can use with their email lists right now…

As in send now, make money, right now?

And if you have more than 10 emails on your list, you should do it too…

And the truth is, it wasn’t me who shared this strategy. I took my Chief Marketing Officer along to the event, Mike Stodola, who is the genius behind most of our sales campaigns. Mike is who shared this MUST-DO strategy during our Roundtables.

It is what we call the “3-Day Payday.”  It is three emails you send over the course of three days and through this you give a time-sensitive call to action and a compelling reason to move forward now that is different than what one can normally get.

Like…

  • Join our gym before Monday and get a free personal training session.
  • Order this our fabulous (insert product name) in the next three days and get this bonus (insert training video, book, another product, etc.) for free.
  • Become a member of our Powerful Professionals program before Monday and get a free ticket to the Game Changer Marketing Summit.
  • Or like we suggested for Wine & Design—buy a Wine & Design class for you and your mom, get two wine glasses free.

Now, in case you are worried about the backlash for emailing your list three days in a row about a promotion, I get it.  That’s why you aren’t doing that exactly.

The 3-Day Payday starts by telling a story on Day One, teases at the bonus on Day Two and then only on Day Three do you go full-on, “Buy now before it’s too late!”

This model works every time we use it for a private client in the agency or even for ourselves.

Here’s the Day One Template:

Subject Line: And then this happened…

Body Copy:

[Their Name], the other day I heard from [person’s name that you helped] who really needed help.

They were dealing with [some kind of problem that you can solve] and it was causing [the various negative things associated with that problem].

They were afraid that [list future outcomes of what could happen if they continued down the path that they were on] and they definitely didn’t want that.

Luckily, after chatting with me briefly they realized that they could [positive outcomes after working with you] and this could all happen in just [give a time frame].

I realized that there may be a number of people that are either in a similar situation or know someone who is which is why I created the [name of your special promotion].

The [special promotion] not only eliminates [the things your offer overcomes] but it also [list positive outcomes people get from getting your promotion.]
